Reclamation of Tanjung Bunga

(15-04-2011)

In 1995 PT Metropolitan Permai Semesta, subsidiary of Lippo Group, has reclaimed onshore area in Tanjung Bunga, Makassar South Sulawesi. This onshore reclaimed area is approximately 2000 ha and some residential buildings and malls have been constructed in the area. Witteveen+Bos was involved in the design of the reclamation area.

Lippo Group currently plans to develop approximately 1000 ha of the offshore area at Tanjung Bunga, Makassar. Witteveen+Bos is requested to carry out a feasibility study for the reclamation work.

The feasibility study will focus on the master plan. The study's objective is to assess the technical and economical (in terms of construction costs only) feasibility of works. This will be done by executing a preliminary design of the reclamation area; including the coastal protection and water management aspects. Costs will be calculated based on this preliminary design. A comparison regarding technical and economical aspects between several methods of reclamation (traditional gravity drained landfill and a polder system) will be part of the study.
